yarn things/SP IC drop deliveries
Jul. 8th, 2012 06:26 pmZachariah is always organized, sets up his contingency plans early and often. What began as a joke, a strange one-sided game of hobby-chicken in response to Lucifer's remark, somehow ended up a larger project, and when Zachariah vanishes from the island, the results quietly deliver themselves, without fuss or fanfare, to their recipients.
Lucifer gets a truly hideous, severely scratchy Christmas Sweater just in time for the peak of summer, along with a small knitted stress doll, wearing a miniature version of the same sweater. An accompanying note reads "Thanks for the suggestion."
Chuck gets an equally scratchy hat, without a note.
Dean finds knitted eyeballs of various colors and detail in strange places for at least a week.
Gabriel gets a long, flowery letter of congratulations that says absolutely nothing of substance, and a Turkey hat.
Rachel receives a pretty cloche made out of a very soft cotton/merino blend. Her note says: "You are five-star material, kid. Don't let the others tell you that being what you were made is anything to be ashamed of. Good luck."
Castiel gets an awkwardly staring owl hat, and a short letter. "Castiel - if you're reading this, then I'm dead again. I'm sorry we never could see eye to eye. As I understand it, you quit because I was willing to destroy part of the world to save it. Try to remember: all wars do that."
Anna will find a pair of comfy knitted slippers, and an assignment that will probably be ignored. "I know this city isn't the life you left us for, but I hope you find something like what you wanted. Keep an eye on Castiel for me, even when he's being a power-mad dipshit. The archangels have always had a little bit more than their faith to go on; they don't really understand."
Magneto gets a hedgehog hat. His note only says, "Give the cubs belly scratches from me."
He made Michael's last, after practicing on everything else, and it isn't quite done: a sleek silvery-blue sweater, made of soft pashmina/silk blend yarn and an intricate part-crochet herringbone pattern, with the last sleeve is still attached to the knitting needles halfway down. Arrangements for the club are in a folder, neat and thorough as ever. Tucked between the pages on the Chinese room is a sticky note that says, "If I'm gone for good, I want you to know: I chose to serve you. I've thought of it in those terms for a long time. Whatever happens at home, however unfair or unfortunate the particular circumstances of the apocalypse, I don't regret it."
